The Holtkamper Cocoon is another quick erect trailer tent, however, it is more akin to the pram hood models, such as the
Camp-lets.
Unlike the Camp-lets, however, this model opens out, including the zipped in groundsheet, which is only, normally, removed for cleaning.
The
Cocoon opens out in a similar way to the smaller
Astro, however, as the footprint of the living area is not restricted to the size
of the trailer top, it gives a somewhat larger internal floor pan. Like all models, however, the awning / sun canopy is attached to
the canvas permanently, in order to speed up the assembly process. The optional kitchen can be carried on the A frame, or used free
standing.
The Cocoon is equiped with the Holtkamper Membrane Airco Tent System, a patented system for controlling ventilation,
insulation and condensation. The system featured a kind of 'climate chanber' between the two roof layers, providing insulation in
the heat and cold, and preventing condensation.
Storage on the Cocoon is pretty impressive, with 700 litres under the lift up
bed, and a further 600 litres on the rack, under the transit cover. The Pack And go system means that you can access the under bed
storage, without having to set the whole unit up (Picture 5, above).
The Cocoon comes in a number of variants. Initially, there
were three models; the S, the M and the XL Now there are two main models; the XL, and the Aero. The XL is the manual version
of the model, whilst the Aero incorporates the revolutionary Windforce System, which automatically erects and packs away the trailer
tent. You can see this in action, on a Holtkamper Kyte on the
Windforce Page of the Holtkamper web site.
Included in the Paperwork
section above is the current sales brochure for the Cocoon, as well as the latest 2016 price list. There are a number of videos of
the Cocoon, below, including three from Holtkamper, themselves, which, of course, are all in Dutch, and one of our own, filmed at
the NEC Camping, Caravan & Motorhome Show, in February 2016.
Further details on this model can be found on the
Cocoon Page of
the Holtkamper web site.
